Joseph’s Story

Joseph completed intake. An Employment Action Plan was started.  Joseph’s goal was to find employment now and go back to school in the future. We gave Joseph resources and information about agencies that would be helpful for mental and physical health and stabilization needs. Joseph created a resume and cover letter and gained job search skills. Joseph maintained job search. Joseph completed Virtual Reality simulations in residential electrician, welding, sheet metal and HVAC at SSILC. He studied for his learners. Joseph registered to take the Security Guard Training at the Corps of Commissionaires and found the course to be too overwhelming. The Corps gave him permission to retake the course within a year (Due to impact of disability). Joseph successfully completed the Security Guard Training at the Corps of Commissionaires. Joseph focused on applying for security guard jobs. We worked on cover letters and updating his resume. Joseph was hired part time with SRG and his first shift was at a Riders game. To date he has also worked shifts at the CIBC and mâmawêyatitân centre. He stated that he was very happy that he decided to take the security guard training a second time. During the time we worked together Joseph maintained his focus and step by step he moved forward to his goals. Joseph assessed his goal for getting his grade 12 and has decided to wait.
